Richard died very suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack at home on Saturday 17 May 2025 in the evening.
He had spent a lovely day with Katharine: playing his violin, planting runner beans and enjoying the sunshine in the garden.
We are all very shocked and saddened at his sudden death but would like to invite donations to two charities in his memory: Christian Aid and East Anglian Air Ambulance
Richard and Katharine supported Christian Aid throughout their married life and did door to door collections themselves back in the day before online donations became more popular.
It was an East Anglian Air Ambulance doctor who attended Richard on the day he died - by car and not helicopter on this occasion!
Christian Aid
Christian Aid is the official relief and development agency of 41 British and Irish churches, and works to support sustainable development, stop poverty, support civil society and provide disaster relief.
